Double trouble: This Karnataka village battles COVID-19, dengue; authorities stay away
Bengaluru: Due to the fear of COVID-19 infection, the authorities in Karnataka’s Kodagu district are turning a blind eye to dengue cases. And, both these diseases have no specific treatment. The villagers of Siddapura in Somwarpet taluk have alleged that the colony has 30 dengue cases but no one comes to treat them fearing COVID infection. As of now, the district has 400 COVID cases.
Due to incessant rains, water is everywhere in the hilly region and thus the rise in dengue cases. A person gets infected with dengue virus if he is bitten by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that usually breed in clean and stagnant water.
