Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed that India has set 2070 as a target to reach net-zero carbon emissions, but also defended the target saying the country was sticking to its pledge "in spirit and letter." PM Modi added that India represents 17% of the world's population but is responsible for "only 5% of global emissions". The prime minister also demanded that developed nations make $1 trillion available as climate finance as soon as possible today.
