Amid CAA, why aren't Dalits considered citizens of India? Activists question Centre in Karnataka's Udupi

Activists took to the streets and staged a protest in front of the gram panchayat office in Udupi, Karnataka, highlighting the discrimination they are facing and having no burial grounds for Dalits

Udupi: While PM Modi’s government is making all sorts of efforts to grant citizenship to refugees under the Citizenship law, activists in Udupi, Karnataka, were up against the Centre raising their voices for the Dalits in the region. The activists and Dalit people alleged that there is no burial ground to bury the dead bodies of Dalits nor there is place to cremate the dead in Uchalli Gram Panchayat jurisdiction of Udupi district.  Dalit activists staged a protest in front of the gram panchayat office and highlighted the discrimination they are facing. Protesting activists raised slogans and said when the Centre is adopting one nation, one religion, why aren’t Dalits considered citizens of India.
