Chief Minister and two-time sitting MLA from Khatima, Pushkar Singh Dhami has lost the battle to Congress's Bhuwan Chandra Kapri. Khatima was the constituency that was the bastion of the eight-month-old chief minister.

Congress paid the price for infighting with the party when the voters handed over power to Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab. The BJP secured comfortable victories in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur. In Goa too, the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 20 seats in the 40-member assembly and is hoping to form the government at the earliest.

The exit polls show BJP will be the single largest party but the possibility of a hung assembly remains the same.

The hilly state of Uttarakhand is presently being governed by the Pushkar Singh Dhami-led Bharatiya Janata Party. In the previous elections, BJP won 57 out of 70-assembly seats.

Rawat further said, "People have voted in favour of growth. This development (voting) has benefited Congress. The BJP is nervous and concerned as a result of this. It seems apparent that the BJP would lose the state elections."

70 assembly seats in Uttarakhand, spread over 13 districts, go to the elections on Monday. The results would be released on March 10.

"They will continue to pillage you if you vote for them again. This time, there is a new party—the AAP. We will complete welfare and development-related projects. Give AAP a chance," Kejriwal said.

The Prime Minister possibly referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent comment that India is a 'union of states.'

“Implementing Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand at the earliest will boost equal rights for everyone in the state,” CM Dhami said.
