The Mundakkai landslide in Kerala's Wayanad has resulted in 387 deaths, with 172 bodies identified and 8 cremated on Sunday (Aug 04). Search efforts continue for 180 missing individuals, with authorities limiting access to Chooralmala to facilitate the search. Meanwhile, schools in Wayanad, except those used as relief centers, will reopen today after a series of holidays.

Neethu Jojo, a dedicated staff member of a private hospital in Wayanad, was among the first to alert emergency services about the catastrophic landslide that struck Chooralmala on July 30.

Telugu cinema legend Chiranjeevi expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic Wayanad landslide and announced that he and his son Ram Charan are donating Rs 1 crore to Kerala.

In a live programme on Asianet News, he praised the state's rescue efforts, highlighting the swift response of the army, navy, and air force, and the central government's significant support, which played a crucial role in saving many lives.

The state government on Saturday announced an immediate aid of Rs 4 crore for the people affected by the massive landslides in Wayanad. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the rescue operations in the disaster-affected area are in the final stage.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced the construction of 100 houses for victims of the Wayanad landslides, following a devastating disaster with 215 confirmed deaths and over 300 people missing. Rescue operations continue with 78 naval personnel deployed. 

The Kerala Chief Minister's Office has initiated the "Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund" to gather donations for those severely affected by the landslides. Social media posts from the Chief Minister's office outline various methods for the public to contribute, including the necessary bank account details for the relief fund.
