Heavy Rains

Heavy rain will continue in the state today (Sep 30). The India Meteorological Department( IMD) has issued orange alert to 5 districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Ernakulam

"I am declaring a state of emergency across New York City, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley due to the extreme rainfall we're seeing throughout the region," State Governor Kathy Hochul announced.

At the time of the incident, visibility at the airport was limited to 700 meters due to the heavy rain. On board the aircraft were six passengers and two crew members. The DGCA's statement did not specify the extent of the injuries sustained by the passengers or crew.

The India Meteorological Department(IMD) issued a possibility of heavy rainfall in some parts of Kerala on Tuesday (September 12). IMD has issued a yellow alert in four districts, including Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Malappuram.

The IMD has predicted widespread rainfall in Kerala till September 10 and has placed several districts under yellow and orange alert.

Himachal Pradesh continues to grapple with the aftermath of incessant rainfall, leading to widespread disruption. A staggering total of 729 roads are currently closed due to landslides and damages caused by the ongoing rain.

Tragic circumstances have led to fears of casualties and people being trapped under the debris. The heart-wrenching event occurred in the Anni area of Kullu, which has been relentlessly battered by heavy rainfall in recent days.

The recent torrents triggered catastrophic landslides, causing road blockages and the collapse of numerous structures across the region. The disaster tragically led to a reported death toll surpassing 60 individuals.

Heavy rains are expected in Haridwar, Pauri, Rudhraprayag, and Chamoli. Uttarakhand is predicted to experience rainfall from August 1 to 3. Meanwhile, a Central Team will visit Telangana on Monday to assess the damage caused by floods in the state following the recent heavy rains.

The state has been witnessing continuous heavy rainfall, leading to the inundation of low-lying areas, damage to roads, and destruction of agricultural crops. As a precautionary measure, the administration has declared a holiday for all schools in the region.

Disturbing video footage captures the perilous moment when she was swept away by the strong current, prompting a warning and heroic efforts by others to protect her.

IMD has issued a red and orange alert in seven states across the county, while light to moderate rains lashed parts of Delhi and NCR in the early hours of Tuesday. It is expected that heavy rains will continue to lash Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand till July 26.
 

As heavy rains continue to lash several parts of Kerala, the educational institutions in Kannur, Wayanad and Malappuram districts will remain closed on Tuesday (July 25).
