Akshay Simha feels relieved today that he doesn't need to spend a whole year preparing for examinations anymore. The Bengaluru-based banker cleared the UPSC Civil Services Main Examination 2020 and secured the 77th rank.

Speaking exclusively to Asianet Newsable on his feat, Akshay says that members of his family helped him crack the exam.

While he had an option to do a PhD while studying at the Indian Institute of Science and Research in Kolkata, after graduation, he began preparation for civil service exams instead and used the time on the campus to hone his leadership skills.

Akshay said that he divided his study time to prepare for the UPSC exam. The 26-year-old said that while morning hours were dedicated for general studies and reading newspapers, the evening and night hours were reserved for optional subjects as the optional papers carry 500 marks which can help boost the total.

Having made it to the top 100 list, Akshay hopes that he will be chosen for the Indian Foreign Service and aspires to be a diplomat serving in European countries
