Dr Apala Mishra is relieved today. She has not just cracked one of the toughest examinations in the country but also earned a spot among the top 10 candidates across India who cleared the test.

Dr Apala secured the 9th rank in the Civil Services Examination 2020.

Dr Apala's determination saw her clear the examination in her third attempt. The learnings from the previous two attempts guided her in her endeavour.

Asianet Newsable reached out to Dr Apala to understand how she channelised her efforts to clear the examination. She also offers insights into how one should prepare for the examination and approach the further stages.

(An earlier version of this story wrongly mentioned that Dr Apala had scored the highest marks in the interview phase. That record is held by Nilabhra Dasgupta, who scored 228 marks in 2007. The factual error is regretted)
