Five security personnel sustained injuries when terrorists fired upon two vehicles, one of which belonged to the Indian Air Force (IAF), in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

A youth from Kerala was killed in an accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Banihal in the Ramban district. 12 people from Kerala were involved in the accident among 14 people. Six of them are reportedly in critical condition.

According to officials, the confrontation ensued around 8:20 pm when the intruder persistently disregarded warnings and attempted to breach the border from the Pakistani side. Faced with the intruder's determined advancement, BSF personnel resorted to firing, neutralising the threat posed by the infiltrator.

The region has been battered by heavy rainfall, triggering landslides and inundating vast areas. The critical Srinagar-Jammu national highway has remained shut for the past three days due to multiple landslides along its route.
