Found Dead

An accused involved in the smuggling case hanged himself in the lock-up inside the excise office in Palakkad today. The Deputy Commissioner of Excise has announced that an investigation has been started into the incident.

The family of the missing girl had filed a complaint against a suspected lover, identified as Sarfaraz Hussain, accusing him of coercing her to elope on March 6, 2024. In response, the Bongaigaon police detained Hussain for interrogation, but no conclusive evidence regarding the alleged elopement emerged.

Her body, with hands and feet tied, was discovered after two days of search efforts. Suspects Vivekanandan (54) and Karunas (19) are being interrogated.

A couple and their three children were found dead at their residence in Pala of Kottayam district on Tuesday (Mar 05). It is suspected that Jaison Thomas ended his life after killing his wife and children.

The Student Federation of India has apologized to the parents of Sidharthan, a second-year student who was found dead at Pookode Veterinary University.  The police arrested the main accused, Sinjo Johnson, from Kalpetta. The other accused, Mohammad Danish and Adityan, have also been caught by the police. With this, all 18 accused in the case were arrested. 

Malayalam actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi visited the residence of JS Sidharthan, who was found dead at the hostel of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Pookode, Wayanad. The BJP leader also demanded a CBI probe into the incident.

Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rehman, the self-proclaimed secretary-general of the United Jihad Council (UJC) and emir of Tahreek-ul-Mujahdeen (TuM), hailed from Pulwama in Kashmir. He was officially designated as a terrorist by the Home Ministry in October 2022.

All the accused in connection with the death of a second-year student of Pookode Veterinary University have been arrested. A second-year Bachelor of Veterinary Science student, Siddharth of Pookode Veterinary University, was found dead inside the college hostel on February 18. Sidharth was reportedly beaten up by SFI leaders at four places in the college premises.
