Parameshwara accuses Congress of casteism, says he was not made CM because he is Dalit

Speaking at an event in Davanegere, deputy chief minister Parameshwar said that there was opportunity on three occasions for a Dalit to become chief minister and was not allowed to become chief minister because of his caste and was instead made deputy chief minister for the heck of it.

Davanagere: Deputy chief minister Parameshwara Rao who was speaking at an event in Davanegere on Sunday. In his speech, he made a series of comments in which he alleged that there was discrimination based on caste in the Congress party.

Parameshwara also said that there were many opportunities where a Dalit could have been made the chief minister, but this never came to pass. The deputy chief minister also stated that this was the reason that neither him nor Mallikarjun Kharge could become the chief minister of Karnataka. He also stated that he was made deputy chief minister just for the heck of it.

Former chief minister Siddaramaiah, who had stated before the Assembly election that Karnataka could see a Dalit chief minister if the Congress came to power, denied the allegations.
