Special darshan at the world famous Tirupati temple will be cancelled for three consecutive days starting from July 7 to July 9 The management of the temple is also reconsidering the offer of free laddoos for devotees opting for special darshan After the GST the prices of the ingredients used to make the laddoos will increase, thereby increasing the price of the laddoos itself

Special darshan at the world famous Tirupati temple will be cancelled for three consecutive days FridaySaturday and Sunday. This will come into effect from July 7 and will continue up to July 9.

The Deputy Secretary of the temple, Srinivasan Raju said, “Even after the summer vacation people have been visiting the temple. The pilgrims look forward to the darshan in long awaited queue. Usually 15 to 20 thousand people visit the temple at this juncture. In order not to make them wait for hours together in the waiting rooms the management has decided to exhibit special darshan.”

“Now the crowd has reached 50 thousand. The 22 waiting halls allocated for the special darshan are filled with people. Hence we have cancelled the special darshan on those three days.”

“So far no decision has been taken whether or not to cancel the distribution of ladoos. As usual the free distribution of laddoo would continue for the people who come for the special darshan,” he added.

In 2014, it was decided that for the people who come to the shrine on foot should be distributed with free laddoos. As the number has risen from 20 thousand to 50, the management is reconsidering this.

GST tax would be introduced on July, 1, 2017, which would increase the cost of the ingredients used for the making of the laddoo.
