Shiv Sena leader, the main accused in Kochi Marine Drive moral policing incident, turns out to be an accused in a sexual harassment case in 2014. T K Aravindan, 57, was remanded in a sexual assault case in 2014.

Njarackal police had arrested and remanded the leader for allegedly sexually assaulting a differently abled woman. Aravindan was the PTA president of a school where the victim was working as a part-time sweeper. He has been out on bail.

"The woman, a hearing impaired had complained that the accused tried to molest her. According to the woman, he said vulgar words to her and wrote something on her palm with his fingers," a police officer from Njarackal police station said.

She also complained that the Shiva Sena leader threatened her after the incident. On March 8, Shiv Sena activists, who were protesting against increasing incidents of sexual assault on women and children in Kerala, chased away young couples from Marine Drive, in the presence of police officers and media. They even showered abuses on the youth.

The incident triggered huge outrage in Kerala and police arrested six Shiv Sena activists. The state government had suspended one sub-inspector and eight constables, who remained mute spectators of the incident.
