Honour Killing

An honour killing happened in Aluva where a 14-year-old was poisoned to death by her father for falling in love with a friend of a different religion. The father has been arrested by the police. The funeral of the child will be held today.

CJI DY Chandrachud said, "Members of the weaker and more marginalised groups have little choice but to submit to the dominant culture to survive. Because of humiliation and separation at the hands of oppressor groups, vulnerable sections of society cannot generate a counter-culture."

According to a survey in Pakistan, as many as 21,900 women were reported to have been raped in the country from 2017 to 2021.

Panwar, a resident of Kolsawadi in the Begum Bazar region, married Sanjana (20), a native of the same area but of a different caste, around one and a half years ago. Sanjana's family was allegedly opposed the marriage and harboured a vengeance towards Neeraj.
