Stone Pelting

A stone was pelted at the Vande Bharat train on Wednesday (Aug 16) between Thalassery and Mahe stations. Earlier too, Vande Bharat trains were attacked in Kerala after the launch of the train by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Miscreants pelted stones at three running trains in three separate incidents in Kerala on Sunday (Aug 13) evening. The Railway police have arrested three in connection with the incident.

The rioting was sparked by a religious procession taken out by VHP and Bajrang Dal in Nuh, about 80 km from the national capital, on Monday. The march came under firing and heavy stone-pelting and a crowd of about 2,500 people had to take shelter inside a temple.

The issue of stone pelting on Vande Bharat Express trains has been a cause of concern for Indian Railways. On July 5, miscreants targeted the newly launched Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat Express in Karnataka, highlighting the seriousness of the problem.

The Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express was pelted with stones near Davangere railway station, damaging a windowpane. Similar incidents have occurred previously. The Railway protection force is investigating, and precautions are being taken to prevent further incidents and ensure passenger safety.

The Chennai division of Southern Railways (SR) had to replace a total of 64 windows of the Mysuru-Chennai Vande Bharat Express harmed by stone pelters in the last six months.

According to initial reports, the glass window of the train has been damaged in the surprise attack. 

According to reports, the incident happened at 5 pm on the train from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram, close to the Tirur Railway Station in Malappuram district. 
 

On Friday, Banerjee asserted that neither Hindus nor Muslims, but the BJP and other right-wing organisations were behind the violence in Howrah's Kazipara area during a procession on Ram Navami.

Jaganiya and other senior police officials rushed to the spot upon learning about the incident. A Bajrang Dal leader claimed that police were nowhere to be seen when the incident took place, but the DCP denied it.

Late on Tuesday night, students at Jawaharlal Nehru University raised 'Inqlaab Zinadabad' slogans and marched to the Vasant Kunj police station, claiming they were attacked while watching the banned BBC documentary on PM Modi on their mobile phones. Some claimed that the attackers were Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad members (ABVP).

Railway authorities identified the minors who threw stones at the train using CCTV footage. The stone-pelting incident on the Vande Bharat Express took place in Kishanganj district of Bihar.

CM Mamata Banerjee said, "It was in Bihar, not West Bengal, where Vande Bharat was pelted with stones. We will take legal action against those media outlets that broadcast false information about the incident in West Bengal and defame our state."
