Rescue efforts in Wayanad, Kerala, have intensified after a devastating landslide. According to the latest reports, the death toll reached 274 on Wednesday (July 31). The Army has been deployed to assist in the rescue efforts and is moving towards the affected area in Mundakkai, accompanied by a dog squad.

Vijayan pointed out that no red alert had been issued before the disaster, with the first red alert coming at 6 am on the morning after the incident. Additionally, between July 23 and July 28, the Central Meteorological Department did not issue any orange alerts for heavy rain in Kerala.

The Wayanad landslide in Kerala has reached its second day with the death toll crossing 200. Heavy rain and landslides have devastated Chooralmala and nearby villages, leaving them isolated and buried under mud and debris. Rescue operations are hampered by ongoing rainfall. Neighbouring states have offered aid, and the Army, NDRF, and SDRF are involved in the rescue efforts.

South superstar Chiyaan Vikram has donated Rs 20 lakh to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund to aid victims of the Wayanad landslide. At least 205 people have lost their lives in the tragedy that struck Mundakkai and Chooralmala.
 

Following the devastating landslides in Kerala's Wayanad district, which have resulted in at least 205 deaths and numerous injuries, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, pledged Rs 5 crore to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund.
 

The death toll from the massive landslide in Wayanad's Mundakkai and Chooralmala has risen to 205. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reported that rescue operations have been intensified, with 144 bodies recovered so far. However, 191 people remain missing, heightening concerns for those trapped under the debris.

Jishnu Rajan, a 26-year-old from Kerala, faced a devastating tragedy when a landslide hit his hometown in Wayanad claiming the lives of his family members, including his parents, siblings, and grandmother, while he was away working in Saudi Arabia.
 

Shah stressed that the Indian government had issued an early warning to Kerala on July 23, seven days before the landslide incident. Subsequent warnings were also given on July 24 and 25.

According to an official statement, four columns from the DSC Centre in Kannur and the 122 TA Battalion are collaborating with the NDRF and state rescue teams.

Wayanad landslide: Union Minister George Kurian visited the landslide-affected areas in Wayanad on July 31, following instructions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kurian met with senior officials from NDRF, CRPF, and the Army, and also visited a relief camp in Kalpetta. 

Union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy has strongly opposed the BJP's planned padayatra to Mysore against the MUDA and Valmiki scams, criticising the appointment of Pritam Gowda as the in-charge of the march. Kumaraswamy alleges that Pritam, who is also the general secretary of the Karnataka BJP, has been involved in actions aimed at destroying his family.
