India has a challenging task ahead as it is facing off against New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship 2019-21 final at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. While both sides are talented, New Zealand seems to have the upper hand, both in terms of momentum and quality.

Therefore, many wonder what should be India's game plan against a formidable opponent like the Kiwi. On the same note, Indian opener Rohit Sharma feels that it would be wise to keep things simple and realistic rather than trying something out of the ordinary.

"I have played those guys and know about their strengths and weaknesses. It will all boil down to what the conditions are, what sort of situation the team is in, whether we are batting first or second. All that will count, and it's important not to overthink. Against a quality side, it is also very important to keep things simple and realistic," he told Star Sports.

For the first time, Rohit would be opening in England while he has played only a Test in the nation to date. However, he is confident of performing against the Kiwi, having faced it on numerous occasions in the shortest formats.

Rohit is undoubtedly a limited-overs specialist, while he is yet to attain considerable success in the longest format. Meanwhile, he admitted that he indeed loves Test cricket for its challenge of surviving every session differently.

"You are challenged for five days and which I think doesn't happen anywhere. Every day brings a different challenge, a longer game that needs patience, you play in different conditions and it's not the easiest. You have to be mentally fresh for five days to make good decisions on the field. Physically, you need to be fit to accept and overcome those challenges," he added.
