The first ever space shoot for Russian docudrama “the Challenge” has concluded as the Russian actress and a film director returned to Earth after spending 12 days on the International Space Station shooting scenes for the first movie in orbit. In one of its kind, actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko landed as scheduled on Kazakhstan’s steppe. A Russian space agency aired their landing live and the video also made it to ISS’ official Twitter handle.

The Challenge is the result of a commercial agreement between Russian state space corporation Roscosmos and Moscow-based media entities. If this project stays on track, the Russian crew will beat a Hollywood project announced last year by actor Tom Cruise together with NASA and Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
