In a unique gesture, United Kingdom's High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis visited the renowned Akshardham Temple in the national capital along with his wife and son.
In a video posted on micro-blogging site Twitter, Ellis said he couldn't have asked for a more auspicious place start to his tenure than offering prayers, participating in rituals and receiving the blessings at the world's largest temple.
Enumerating the close cultural linkages between India and the UK, Ellis said, "The largest temple in Europe is in London. There are British Members of Parliament who take their oath with their hands on the Bhagavad Gita. There are 25,000 Indian nationals who work in the UK National Health Service."
