Now, travel by road from Delhi to Meerut in just 45 minutes

The Delhi-Meerut Expressway, which will reduce the travel time between the two cities to just 45 minutes, has been opened for traffic. 

Built at the cost of Rs 8,346 crore, the Delhi-Meerut Expressway is 82 kilometres long. This includes 60 Km of the expressway and 22 km of the National Highway. 

According to the Road Transport and Highways ministry, there are 24 big and small bridges, 10 flyovers and 3 Railway over-bridges in the 82 km stretch.

95 underpasses have been built on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Ministry officials informed that adequate facilities had been made for pedestrians to cross the road without interfering with the expressway traffic.

A unique feature of the project is that an Automatic Number Plate Reader has been operationalised for the first time in the country so that toll can be collected without having to stop at any point.

The National Highway Authority of India has set speed limits for the expressway. In Delhi, the maximum permissible speed limit is 70 kmph, while in Uttar Pradesh, the maximum permissible speed limit is 100 kmph.
