Celebrations erupt as 'Thalaiva' Rajinikanth enters politics

Superstar Rajinikanth's decision to take the plunge into politics ahead of next year's Tamil Nadu assembly elections set off fan frenzy and celebrations outside his residence.

Firecrackers were burst, sweets were distributed moments after Rajinikanth announced that he will announce his political party on December 31st.

Addressing media persons and his fans, Rajinikanth said: "I never go back on the promises I make. Political change is necessary. It is the need of the hour. If it is not done now, it will be never done. For this, I urge people to stand by me. Together we will bring change."

"We will work hard and register a victory," Rajinikanth added.
