Bengaluru: Overflowing Madiwala lake floods homes, inundates roads as heavy rain lashes city
Bengaluru residents woke up to a nightmare as overflowing Madiwala lake flooded homes, apartments and inundated roads on Thursday.
A night of heavy rainfall caused Bengaluru’s Madiwala lake to over and cause a flood-like situation on Thursday. Several areas including BTM Layout, HSR Layout, Anugraha Layout, and Madiwala localities were flooded with overflowing Madiwala lake water.
Meanwhile, after unprecedented rainfall lashed Bengaluru, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting very heavy rainfall with no respite till October 17. IMD has forecast “isolated heavy to very, very heavy rainfall” for the next five days over south interior Karnataka – where its capital city is located.
Earlier on Monday, the city started witnessing heavy rainfall and several areas, including the Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL), were waterlogged.
