Thunderstorm, heavy rains uproot 35 trees, damage 36 electric poles; power supply disrupted

Heavy rain along with thunder and squalls lashed Bengaluru city on Sunday (June 3) evening. Due to squalls, 35 trees were uprooted, 36 electric poles damaged, water logging was reported in most of the roads and there was power disruption in various regions in the city.

Bengaluru: Heavy rains, thunderstorm along with squalls on Sunday (June 3) evening has uprooted 35 trees and damaged 36 electric poles in Bengaluru. Traffic movement was affected and people had a difficult time moving on roads. There was also water logging on the roads. Heavy rain was reported in Banashankari 100 ft Road, Vijayanagar, HRBR, Fraser Town and other areas. In Yelahanka alone 10 trees were uprooted. Power supply was disrupted in Domlur Layout, JP Nagar Phase II and V, AECS Layout, Siddapura, Raghavendra Circle, NR Layout, HBR Layout, Babusapalya,  Dasarahalli, Devasandra, Sahakar Nagar D Block, Byatarayanapura and Gulur. It was reported that water gushed into some houses in Chennammanakere Achukattu.
