Staff of day care centre in Bengaluru's gated community drags child, dislocates hand

In a spine-chilling incident, a two-year-old boy's right elbow was dislocated after a day care employee in Bengaluru allegedly dragged him by the hand.  Furious parents of the child demand that employees of the day care centre lodged inside the gated community Suncity Gloria be sacked.

Bengaluru: Parents at gated community Suncity Gloria in Sarjapura limits in Bengaluru gathered along with neighbours and friends at Mayflower Montessori, a day care centre. They protested and demanded the immediate sacking of its employees accusing them of physically abusing their child.

Parents of two-year-old Rakesh (name changed) say that their child's right elbow has been dislocated as he was allegedly assaulted by Shoba, an employee, while Monisha, in-charge of the day care, has been accused of trying to downplay the incident and denying CCTV footage to parents.

Ashmita Guha, mother of the child, said that on May 27, the child was dragged by his hand forcefully and was slapped. This has resulted in the child's hand getting dislocated. The parents took him to the hospital. Another private hospital on May 29 issued a report stating that the dislocation was due to the forceful pull of the hand.

Since then, the parents have been demanding the CCTV footage to know what happened. The parents, along with their supporters, gheraoed the principal Asha N and demanded her to sack the accused employees and not just suspend them.

Talking to media persons, the principal said that the management was serious about the issue. "The staff did not know that forceful dragging will lead to dislocation. She informed about the issue and I asked them to inform the parents about the helpers," said Asha M.

She further stated that since the allegations have come to her notice, she will investigate and take necessary action.
