BBMP to develop 5 new graveyards, makes way for respectable final rites
As existing graveyards in BBMP limits are at maximum capacity, the BBMP has reserved Rs 40 crore to develop five new graveyards for people who are placed on the outskirts of the city. The government and revenue department has allocated 8 acres of land to BBMP for this very purpose.
To reduce the inconvenience caused to residents on the outskirts of Bengaluru, who find difficult to find a place to give their loved ones a decent burial, mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun, has reserved Rs 40 crore to develop graveyards at Kuduregere, Bagalur, Shivanapura, Hullegowdanahalli and Devasandra.
The land measuring eight acres is divided among these places and levelling of the land, construction of compound walls and barricades will be completed soon.
The bereaved from the outskirts need not to worry about finding a resting place to conduct the last rites and will be spared the added bother of finding a burial space at a time of grief.
