Woman asks official to wear mask, angry man thrashes her with iron rod

Nellore: Andhra Pradesh Police arrested a government official for assaulting a woman colleague for asking him to wear a mask. The accused assaulted the woman with an iron rod. The video which captured the incident has gone viral on social media too. The incident came to light after the woman filed a complaint with police.

The incident occurred in AP Tourism Hotel at Dargamitta in Nellore town. The accused is identified as Bhaskar. He had been nursing a grouse against the 43-year-old woman, who is a contractual employee with the department.

When Bhaskar was talking to a senior accountant, Narasimha Rao, without wearing a mask, the woman suggested that he should wear a mask because of the Covid-19 situation. Angered over this, Bhaskar abused the woman.  “Nellore district police are extremely sensitive to any violation or crime against women. Women safety is our top priority,” a tweet from the Nellore police department said.
