Stranded in sewage: Pilgrims to Mecca cover their noses at Haj Bhavan

Muslims in Karnataka have been let down big time as the Haj Bhavan where pilgrims gather before heading to the Holy City of Mecca is now filled with sewage

Negligence and apathy by BWSSB and residents have led to Haj Bhavan in Karnataka being surrounded by sewage water.

The issue is pending from the last few weeks. According to Sarfaraz Khan, CEO of Karnataka Haj Bhavan, Bengaluru, the issue is new, but the Bhavan that was established five years ago has been witnessing this stagnation of sewage water for the last 7 months.

He says this is because of residents letting sewage into stormwater drains and onto roads.

BWSSB and BBMP engineers have been asked to fix the problem and find an inlet and connect the sewage pipes as early as possible.
