Rajasthan CM slams PM Modi over CAA and NRC, BJP condemns his statements

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot lashed out at the Centre over the newly enacted law – Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens. Lashing out at PM Modi, Gehlot said whoever built a nation in the name of religion, that nation has been shattered into pieces. However, BJP condemnedGehlot's statements and said should mind his business in governing Rajasthan as mandated by the voters of his state, instead of getting ahead of himself to advise the Prime Minister on which laws should be passed and which shouldn't be passed.

Jodhpur: While the entire country is burning over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot during his 2-day visit to Jodhpur slammed the Modi government over NRC and CAA. He said the government never took the opposition into confidence before passing the NRC or CAA law. He added that whenever a nation was formed in the name of religion, it shattered into pieces.

Condemning Ashok Gehlot’s statements over CAA and NRC, BJP spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said, “CM Ashok Gehlot should be touching the feet of PM Narendra Modi and revere him for delivering on the promises made to Hindu refugees from Pakistan and Bangladesh by Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and other national leaders, mostly belonging to Congress party.

Neither PM Modi nor India needs lectures from non-performers of the Congress party. Narendra Modi has been elected by Indian voters with a stupendous mandate to deliver the national agenda of BJP, and he is doing that, with great diligence.

CM Ashok Gehlot should mind his business in governing Rajasthan as mandated by the voters of his state, instead of getting ahead of himself to advise the Prime Minister on which laws should be passed and which shouldn't be passed.

Congress party and its leaders are so desperate and confused that they don't even know if they should work in the interest of India or Pakistan and Bangladesh.”
