On August 29, the Nayandahalli-Kengeri metro rail route of 7.53 kms was inaugurated. The function was attended by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and also CM Basavaraj Bommai.

However, the grand event landed into controversy after the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited authorities failed to give any respect to the official language Kannada as the name board and information about the event in the administrative language was missing.

Sunil Kumar left a video message saying the incident has come to his notice and he also has sent a notice to BMRCL MD seeking explanation about the violation and also ordered for necessary action against the concerned authority in charge of the event.

He said that henceforth authorities in all the government functions must follow the administrative language policy failing which action will be taken.

The state language and its culture have time and again come under attack. Earlier Google has hurt the sentiments of Kannadigas as its search engine showed Kannada in the 'Ugly' language list, following a backlash the authorities corrected the mistake and also apologized.

Later e-commerce giant Amazon landed in trouble after the state flag was shown in the bra and bikini category and the same was also added in the kart list. This firm also apologized and also removed the controversial ad following a backlash and government notices.
