Heavy rains lash parts of Karnataka; Bengaluru too receives good rains

Weatherman predicted heavy rains in Bengaluru for the next two days due to the onset of monsoon over Kerala and coastal Karnataka.

The State started to witness good rains from last night itself as Dakshina Kannada including Mangaluru received 11-centimeter rainfalls and Mangaluru Airport station also recorded 11 centimeters of rainfall.

Similarly, Belagavi bordering Maharashtra received 9 centimeters of rainfall and Karwar, Badami, Udupi and southern Karnataka district Tumakuru received 7 centimeters of rainfall respectively.

As heavy to very high rainfall falls under the 'orange category' in terms of the meteorological department, the same has been issued to both Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada district and fishermen have been asked to suspend all fishing activity.

As Bengaluru city is also receiving good rains, the IMD officials say that as the monsoon advances, the IT city is expected to receive heavy rains in the next two days.
