Happy Holi: NIMHANS ropes in patients to make colours again; what will happen to profits this time?

At a time when dangerous chemical colours are used during Holi, NIMHANS is selling eco-friendly colours and has made a profit from it. Patients were gifted bicycles from the profits made last year
 

For Holi, the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences, roped in patients from Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre to make eco-friendly colours.

The centre had collected over Rs 1 lakh last year by selling products made from the centre.

To boost the confidence of patients who come for rehabilitation, the centre had purchased bicycles from the profits made and distributed it to them.

This year over 200kg of colours were produced and packed. The same will be sold for Rs 450 per kilo for a package that contains a range of colours

The flowers are collected from weddings, temples and flower shows at Lal Bagh. Later the flowers are cut, dried, processed and packed.
