FASTag rules on National Highways sees double traffic, vehicles without stickers pay double

As FastTag rules for all vehicles plying on National Highways becomes compulsory, vehicles without stickers and those which witnessed technical glitches piled up near toll gates causing slow moving traffic.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had made it mandatory for all vehicles plying on National Highways to use FASTag stickers compulsory or pay double the amount every time the vehicle passes.

As the deadline to obtain the FASTag ended on February 15, toll gates in Bengaluru outskirts stopped vehicles and charged double the amount.

In some cases the QR code failed to match with vehicles fitted with FASTag stickers, as a result the vehicle owners picked up a quarrel with authorities.

As a result traffic was witnessed across toll gates in Bengaluru and particularly on International Airport Road.
