Faridabad murder: Victim’s family stages protest, demand stringent action against accused

21-year-old Nikita Tomar was shot dead outside college in Ballabgarh, Faridabad. The two accused have been arrested by Haryana Police.

Faridabad: A 21-year-old student named Nikita Tomar was shot dead outside Aggarwal College in Ballabgarh, Faridabad. Angry over the incident, a group of protesters broke into a shop in Faridabad on Tuesday and created a ruckus. The police present on the spot managed to pacify the protesters following which they staged a demonstration and blocked the road. The woman's family is also part of the dharna. Also, demonstrations are also being held outside the woman’s college with her friends demanding stringent punishment to the accused.

The incident took place during a failed abduction attempt that was caught on camera. The victim had earlier filed a complaint of molestation and harassment against Taufeeq, who is now accused of her murder. The accused was arrested hours after the incident.

"Both accused involved in the brutal murder of a girl student in Faridabad last evening arrested. The murder weapon has been recovered. An SIT led by ACP Crime Anil Kumar will ensure quick probe and time-bound trial to ensure justice to the family," said Haryana Home minister Anil Vij.
