Despite prohibitory orders, protests over CAA erupt in Karnataka; Ramachandra Guha, others detained

Several people gathered on the streets in Karnataka, protesting against the Centre’s decision on Citizenship Amendment Act. Section 144 has been imposed until December in cities like Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: While many parts of Karnataka are under curfew with the imposition of Section 144, several protests were witnessed across the state on Thursday (December 19). Several people from the Left-wing community gathered in Karnataka's Kalaburagi and Bengaluru to express their displeasure over the Centre's decision in implementing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Also, well-known historian, Ramchandra Guha was dragged by the police and was detained along with dozens, who were protesting at Bengaluru's Town Hall.
