Coronavirus: KSRTC loses about Rs 7 crore, sees 13% dip in booking; 812 trips cancelled

Karnataka’s largest transport corporation KSRTC is staring at a huge loss due to the coronavirus scare that has hit the state

In the last two days, the department has lost Rs 2 crore and with 1000 scheduled trips cancelled today, the loss amount could be doubled.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation with 8200 buses in its fleet has lost about Rs 7 crore due to coronavirus.

 

Department officials say, the KSRTC covers 30 lakh kilometres daily with 8200 buses and from March 1, the bookings for AC buses have been dwindling.

 

Officials at KSRTC say 21,000 online bookings that were reported daily has now come down to 16,000. If the same continues, the losses could mount. So far, the corporation witnessed Rs 6.88 crore losses.
