Coronavirus: Devotees undergoing screening before entering Ramanathaswamy Temple in Tamil Nadu

Devotees visiting Ramanathaswamy Temple in Tamil Nadu’s Rameswaram are undergoing thermal screening before entering the shrine

Rameswaram: Amid the rising fear of coronavirus outbreak, Tamil Nadu district collector K Veera Raghava Rao said that considering the importance of Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, additional manpower has been deployed to handle the public visiting the temple. He said, “Any person having symptoms of cough and cold or fever, shall not be allowed into the temple. Instead, they would be sent to the government hospital for a thorough check-up and tests. The medical teams have been equipped with infrared thermometers with which the temperature would be gauged.” 

The HR and CE officials said that there was no restriction on visitors. However, as a precautionary measure, pilgrims shall be screened before entry into the sanctum sanctorum. The civic authorities have intensified fumigating the open drainage and disposal of garbage near shrines. The temple premises is being disinfected every now and then. There shall not be any delay in clearing the mess as hygiene is of utmost importance. Special teams have been deployed to monitor the activities inside the temple and its premises.
