Cholera comes back in Bengaluru amid coronavirus scare; mayor to look into issue

Residents in Bengaluru South and Mahadevapura surroundings are worried as suspected cases of cholera and gastroenteritis have sprung up. Many have been admitted and discharged from private hospitals after displaying symptoms.

Bengaluru: Following many people displaying symptoms like frequent vomiting and diarrhoea, residents of Mahadevapura and Bommanahalli in Bengaluru south surroundings say they have been infected with waterborne infections such as cholera and gastroenteritis.

Residents have complained saying, due to ongoing BWSSB pipe work, sewage is getting mixed with drinking water and that water supplied through tankers in times of water scarcity is also not clean and hence such cases of diseases are on the rise.

The mayor has also confirmed that he has received information about the issue and stated that he will have a meeting with BWSSB officials and address concerns.
