Bengaluru’s BBMP vaccinates 4,71,593 children in 11 hours to tackle polio

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on Sunday pulled off a miracle by covering over 82% children listed in the first phase of its anti-polio vaccination drive. Out of the targeted number of 5,71,125 children, 4,71,593 were vaccinated on Sunday.

Bengaluru: The first phase of BBMP’s anti-polio vaccination drive in 2020 that kickstarted on Sunday witnessed 82% completion in a few hours.

Children aged under five years were vaccinated at various transit points near construction sites like metros, melas and bazaars. 

Out of the set target of 5,71,125, children, 4,71,593 were vaccinated on Sunday.

According to BBMP commissioner BH Anil Kumar, the drive will continue for few more days and the staff will take up door-to-door campaigns to vaccinate other children.
