At a time when Covid scare is sweeping Bengaluru City with an increase in the number of positive cases and deaths, the burial grounds and crematoriums are witnessing long queues.

With this even BBMP if finding it tough as there is a demand from families to allow relatives to dispose as per customs.

At this point in time, Mercy Angels an offshoot of Bengaluru based NGO Mercy Mission is helping in giving a decent burial as per customs.

The members who based on calls rush to a particular hospital and then arrange for cremation as per the victims customs.

Tanveer Ahmed who picked sixth body on Thursday alone said that from Mercy Angels, they have been serving the society from last one year and have given decent funerals to Muslims, Christians and other communities as well.

The team follows strict Covid-19 protocol at the time of handling the body. They wear PPE kit, cover their face with a mask and shield, and sanitize hands before and after the last rites.
