Bengaluru sees increase in asthma patients, say doctors; citizens turn blind eye to pollution

With outer ring road becoming a major source of air pollution due to the increase in vehicle population and construction activity, doctors have been witnessing an increase in asthma patients and patients with allergies. A study by Belgium based institute indicated that Bengaluru's Mysuru Road, Hosur Road, Tumakuru Road, KR Puram and Silk Board is most polluted.

Be ready to put on your masks if you are travelling in Bengaluru’s outer ring road or just avoid it altogether as its surrounding areas have been termed as most polluted. With an increase in vehicular population and construction activity, the smoke from vehicles and dust particles from construction sites and roadside, one cannot simply breathe easy.

Doctors in the city say that due to the increase in pollution, asthma cases and cases of allergic reactions are on the rise.

Doctors advise that one should wear a mask to escape allergic reactions and have urged authorities to come out with planned development, such as planting more tree saplings, reducing vehicle registrations to contain pollution.
