Onam, celebrated mainly in God’s own country, the 10-day harvest festival of Kerala and the return of the legendary King Mahabali is never complete without organising a grand feast, also known as Onam Sadya.
Also referred to as Thiru-Onam or Thiruvonam festival, the Sadya is a special traditional meal that is prepared and served on a banana leaf which reflects the spirit of the season and is traditionally made with seasonal vegetables such as yam, cucumber, ash gourd and so on. This Onam, we bring you the recipe of one of the most mouth-watering dishes of Sadya -- Aviyal prepared by chef Selvaraj in authentic Kerala style using – beans, carrot, drumsticks, yam, raw banana, coconut, curd and mainly coconut oil.
