RIP Puneeth Rajkumar: Power Star laid to rest with state honours at Kanteerava Studios beside father's tomb

The mortal remains were laid to rest with state honours and Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai offered the final adieu.

Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar was laid to rest at the Kanteerava Studio in Bengaluru beside the grave of his father, the legendary actor of Kannada cinema Dr Rajkumar on Sunday morning. Puneeth is survived by his wife Ashwini and two daughters – Drithi and Vanditha.

The mortal remains were laid to rest with state honours and Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai offered the final adieu.

Puneeth Rajkumar's mortal remains were kept at Kanteerava Stadium for public homage since October 29 evening and thousands, including members of Karnataka's film fraternity and politicians made a beeline to pay their respects. However, the mortal remains were shifted to Kanteerava Studios for the last rites at 4.45 am after the procession snaked through Bengaluru. Appu’s mortal remains were brought to Kanteerava Studios at 5:45 am and laid to rest with full state honours.  

Meanwhile, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said, “It was a personal bonding with the entire family and more so with 'Appu'. I had seen him as a boy. We had relations since those days. Therefore, I am giving him a final salute. Certainly, I was emotional.”
