Yashasvi Jaiswal Exclusive: Sachin Tendulkar gave me advice; I believe in 'watch and hit the ball'
Yashasvi Jaiswal made headlines after scoring a 19-ball 50 in IPL 2021 and keeping Rajasthan Royals in playoffs contention. Speaking exclusively to Asianet, he spoke on several topics.
Uncapped teen Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been in the news for his compelling abilities and knocks of late. Playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR), he played a superb knock, scoring a 19-ball 50 to set the platform, as it chased down a hefty total of 190, set by Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Recently, Asianet caught up with Jaiswal, as he spoke on several topics. He revealed how working with RR's Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara, has helped him. At the same time, he also spoke on the pep talk he received from Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and his junior stint under Rahul Dravid.

He also explained his mantra of hitting the ball. For him, it's just about watching and hitting. Also, upon being asked who was the toughest bowler he has faced in the tournament so far, he came up with a surprise reply that none challenged him.
Jaiswal has undoubtedly become one of the genuine prospects for Team India in the future. As he eyes the senior team, he acknowledged the areas where he needs to work upon. Apart from keeping up with his realistic gameplay style, he also focuses on his running and fitness levels.

Jaiswal was roped in by RR last season. Since then, he has played 11 games in the IPL, scoring 277 runs at an average of 25.2 and has a strike rate of 138.5. Overall, his T20 numbers are impressive, having scored 380 from 16 at 23.75 and an S/R of 135.71. The 50 against CSK was his maiden in the IPL and his T20 career. He also has profound numbers in List-A, scoring 987 in 21 at 51.94, including three tons and four half-centuries.
