IPL 2021: When would Hardik Pandya resume bowling for Mumbai Indians? Mahela Jayawardene clarifies
Hardik Pandya is undoubtedly one of the top Indian all-rounders. He has limited himself from bowling following a back surgery that he underwent in 2019. Meanwhile, in the Indian Premier League 2021, he is mainly playing as a batsman but has failed to fire.
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is one of the deadliest in the world with the bat. Besides his atomic batting, he is also famous for his decent pace bowling.
However, currently in the 2021 Indian Premier League, Pandya has mainly played as a batsman and is yet to bowl. Meanwhile, speaking on when he can resume bowling, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene has clarified that he might miss out on bowling until June.
"We were obviously looking forward to him to be bowling this series as last season he was coming back from injury. But, after the ODIs against England, I believe he picked up a niggle. So that's something we are nursing at the moment. We don't want to risk it because it's important that we make sure that he is completely in a position to come in and bowl," he said at the pre-match press conference on Monday, ahead of Tuesday's clash against Delhi Capitals.

"Hopefully, in the next few weeks, with work and all that, you might see him bowl. It's not like we are deliberately trying not to bowl him. We would love to have him bowling, but as soon as the niggle cools off and he is comfortable, we should be able to utilise that asset as well," he added.
Pandya has recently recovered from a back injury that had troubled him since the ICC World Cup 2019. He also underwent surgery the same year and was out of action for quite some time before making a triumphant return in IPL 2020 with MI.
