Defying lockdown: Karnataka MLA throws birthday bash with large gathering

Despite the nationwide lockdown, on Friday Turuvekere constituency BJP MLA M Jayaram celebrated his birthday with his supporters in Gubbi taluk in Tumakuru. In the video, many people were seen gathered in Gubbi taluk to celebrate the BJP legislator's birthday.

 A few days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a three-week lockdown, urging people to follow social distancing to prevent the coronavirus spread.

 But an MLA from the party, M Jayaram from Turuvekere in Karnataka's Tumakuru district, cut a large chocolate cake wearing white gloves and passed it to people including children.

 He also arranged biryani for his supporters in Gubbi town, which is around 90 km from Bengaluru.
