History being created Congress and TDP to join hands in Telangana

Congress and TDP (Telugu Desam Party) have witnessed glory, ruled the undivided Andhra Pradesh and have been rivals since TDP was founded in 1982 by the then actor turned politician Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao.

After Andhra Pradesh was divided into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in 2014, both the parties lost their grip in the political scenario. Two major regional parties of TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) in Telangana and YCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) in Andhra Pradesh dominated the political scene, later on.

Though TDP formed government and is ruling AP, both TDP and Congress lost face and their stand in Telangana with the growing emergence and popularity of TRS. Both the parties lack the power of a strong opposition with the ruling TRS government winning the maximum seats in Telangana in the 2014 elections.

Now the two rivals plan to gain strength in the 2019 elections in Telangana State along with Left parties and JAC to form a great alliance. This would indeed be historic with two rival parties forming alliances.

Rumours suggest  news of Telangana TDP working President Revanth Reddy leaving TDP and  joining Congress or BJP or even starting a new party. But all this proved to be false. There is another rumour that Revanth Reddy may leave TDP if TDP allies with TRS.

Recently news is ripe that Revanth Reddy met with a key Telangana Congress leader who asked him to join Congress. But Revanth clearly declined the offer stating that the strong TDP vote bank in Telangana would go to TRS if he left the party. But Revanth promised to play a key role in the great alliance.

Revanth opined that TRS won the 2014 elections as it was a new party with the history of Telangana agitation. But in its three years of rule TRS saw negativity among the people for its many failures and this would be advantageous for the great alliance in 2019 elections.

2019 elections would see the beginning of a new era with two major rival political parties forming an alliance in Telangana.
