Chandrashekhar purportedly recollected statements made during his past media interactions, predicting the downfall of BRS in Telangana post-2023 assembly elections and Kavitha's impending arrest.

The situation was escalated by her failure to adhere to multiple summonses issued by the ED earlier this year, including one for questioning on January 16, which she refrained from attending, citing a purported protection stemming from a Supreme Court ruling.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has named Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia as co-conspirators in an alleged liquor policy scam, following the arrest of K. Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The ED said that Kavitha's involvement is linked to a powerful conglomerate known as the "South Group," which allegedly wielded significant influence within the now-defunct Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.

K Kavitha's arrest by the ED and transfer to Delhi took place on Friday, setting the stage for further interrogation regarding her purported role in the Delhi excise policy-related money laundering probe.

According to ED officials, there is substantial evidence, including witness statements, against BRS leader K Kavitha in the excise policy money laundering case.

The ED's decision to detain Kavitha stems from an ongoing investigation into her involvement in a money laundering scheme linked to the Delhi liquor policy case. Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, was taken into custody on March 15 in connection with the case.

According to the arrest order issued, the agency holds sufficient grounds to believe that Kavitha is guilty of an offence punishable under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.

This is not the first instance of Kavitha facing interrogation. Last year, she was questioned thrice in connection with the same case, with her statements recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Despite maintaining her innocence, Kavitha accused the BJP-led Central government of utilizing central agencies to infiltrate Telangana through covert means.

A Maoist poster in Kannur's Ayankkunnu stated that a member of their gang named Kavitha was killed in an encounter that broke out between the Thunderbolt and the Maoists in November. They have also vowed to avenge her death.
