In response to the Opposition's demands for a thorough discussion on the Manipur violence, specifically the distressing incident of the naked women being paraded in a viral video, the government has expressed its readiness to engage in the discussion in both Houses of Parliament.

If Twitter fails to prevent the circulation of the video, the government may take legal action against the platform. A 17-year-old minor girl was gang-raped by her boyfriend and his friends in Adoor. The police arrested all the six involved in the incident.

A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and also the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, has been registered against the accused.

A district court in Muzaffarnagar had on Tuesday sentenced two men to 20 years in prison for gang-raping the woman during the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots. It also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 each on convicts Maheshvir and Sikander.

The top court also said that every action should be for public good, adding that the release of these convicts is a crime against a community and society. The top court also questioned the parole given between 1000-1500 days and asked if the same if available for normal citizens.

On Tuesday, Vikas Walkar, the father of Shraddha Walkar, demanded the latter's parents be questioned in connection with his daughter's murder. "If the involvement Poonawala's parents is found in the case, then action should be taken against them," Vikas Walkar told PTI over phone.

Last week, the victim's father filed a police complaint stating that the three accused contacted his daughter again and asked her to meet them. Upon refusing their advances, the main accused, the former pradhan's son, uploaded a clip of the assault online, and shared it with the girl's in-laws.

The four allegedly pulled the woman, who was sitting in the National Games Village Park at Koramangala, into their car at around 10 PM on March 25 and sped in the vehicle. They allegedly raped her in the moving car, the police said.

The Supreme Court questioned if the release of 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano case was done according to remission standards in other such cases and asked the Centre to present all the relevant documents on the next date of hearing.
