Medical negligence by Santosh Hospitals kills corporator in Bengaluru

Bengaluru corporator was admitted to Santosh Hospital for minor surgery to remove nasal abscess on November 13. However, within 45 minutes after surgery, he suffered a heart attack and slipped into coma.

Corporator Elumalai, 40, of Sagaypura ward in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike limits, died early morning at 2 am on December 6. Elumalai's family held Santosh Hospital responsible for his death. Santosh Hospital doctors had performed a minor surgery to remove his nasal abscess on November 13. However, within 45 minutes after surgery, he suffered a heart attack and slipped into coma. He was shifted to Vikram Hospital for further treatment. Despite efforts to bring him back to consciousness, Elumalai died. Meanwhile Santosh Hospital administration has asked for police protection fearing attack from supporters, family and friends of the coroporator.
