22 patients on ventilator-support die after oxygen leak in Nashik govt hospital

Confirming the death toll, Maharashtra FDA Minister Dr Rajendra Shingane said: "We are trying to get a detailed report. We have ordered an enquiry as well. Those who are responsible will not be spared." 

Twenty-two patients on ventilator-support lost their lives at the Dr Zakir Hussain Hospital in Maharashtra's Nashik district after the oxygen tank leaked while it was being replenished.

Nasik Municipal Corporation Commissioner said 23 patients were on ventilator support at the time of the leak. Twenty-two patients succumbed after their oxygen supply got disconnected.

Politics erupted over the shocking incident with Congress seeking a probe into the disaster at the hospital is managed by the BJP-governed Nashik Municipal Corporation.

Maharashtra is already reeling under a scarcity of medical oxygen due to a steep rise in Covid-19 cases. 58,924 new Covid-19 were reported from the state in the last 24 hours.
